京都一周トレイル

　 The KYOTO TRAIL is a long hiking course covering about 70 kilometers: starting from Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine (southeast of the city) and leading to Mount Hiei, Ohara & Kurama areas, then, Takao, Arashiyama, and Koke-dera Temple on the west side.

The whole hiking course is maintained by the KYOTO TRAIL Association: Kyoto City, Kyoto Alpine League, Keihan Railways, Hankyu Railways, Keifuku Railways, Kyoto City Transportation Bureau, Kyoto-Osaka District National Forest Office, Kyoto City Tourist Association.

1.	There are sign posts on the hiking courses to give clear direction.
2.	Each hiking course starts near from a railway station or bus stop so that you can decide which route to take depending on your condition.
3.	All hiking courses are full of historical attractions including some World Heritage Sites which you can enjoy only in Kyoto.
4.	There are some observatory spots in the course where you can enjoy fine view of the city.

	Higashiyama Course (Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine - Shogun-zuka - Path of Philosophy - Mount Hiei)

This course, convenient to public transportation, is recommended for beginners. Kyoto’s popular sightseeing spots are located on the way and you can enjoy Kyoto’s nature and history.

	Eastern Kitayama Course (Mount Hiei - Ohara - Kurama/Ninose)

Walk across grand Mount Hiei and enter the peaceful rural areas of Ohara and Shizuhara. You will be surrounded by fresh air and nature for the entire course.

	Eastern Kitayama Course (Kurama/Ninose - Himuro - Sawa no Ike Pond - Mitsuo/Kiyotaki)
	500 yen
Walking through the country area of the Kitayama cedar forest, you will arrive in the rural Mitsuo and Kiyotaki area. Some of the names of places indicate that this area has a very long history.

	Nishiyama Course (Mitsuo/Kiyotaki - Toriimoto - Togetsu-kyo Bridge - Mount Matsuo - Kamikatsura)
	300 yen
This course is recommended for families. There are many interesting sightseeing spots on the way starting from the Toriimoto area. You will fully enjoy this course no matter which season you go.
