This park is one of the world's a few bamboo botanical gardens. The park was opened in order to preserve the Nishiyama bamboo groves before the new housing development was build in Rakusai. Within the garden's 4 hectares (about 1 1/2 acres) there are over 110 different types of bamboo planted a bamboo exhibition hall and an open park. Other attractions include displays about Thomas Edison's bamboo filament light products a strolling garden and a Japanese tea house (reservations required and there is an entrance fee). There are also over 350 masonry pieces from the old Nijo castle and the Hyaku Byaku bashi bridge which is connected with the Onin civil war of 1467-1477.

Holiday Wednesdays December 29-January 3.
Note The front gate closes at 4:00 p.m.
Charge Park admittance is free.
Tea house: @ 2100 yen 9:00-12:00 and @ 3150 yen 1:00-4:30. Tea equipment charge 2100 yen tax included.
Reserve Persons who wish to use the wheelchair access are asked to contact the park before visiting.
